BUTTER + LOVE AMERICAN MADE CAMPAIGN
Butter + Love was recently nominated as a finalist for Martha Stewart’s American Made Awards. The winner would receive $10,000 to further their small business and some well-needed plugs from the domestic goddess herself on at least a few of her media outlets. Because the decision relied partially on public voting, owners Alison Walla and Michael Phillips decided that we needed to get the attention of the voting audience. An impromptu photoshoot came together quickly on a lazy weekend afternoon. The iconic Americana vignettes "with a Brooklyn twist" was concepted by and starred the two, and with the addition of branded typographic treatments to tie them all together, a marketing campaign was born.
The campaign was mainly meant for repeated social media announcements — Facebook, Twitter, Instagram — but we also printed up some small cards with voting information to provide to purveyors as a P.O.P. piece.
A dog bakery ended up ahead in the number of votes in the food category, but the final winner chosen by MSLO was a beeswax candlemaker. No judgment, no judgment.
But we were robbed.
